Martin Luther King Jr

Martin Luther King Jr day is a day of observance of the achievements and life of Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther was a man who fought for racial justice, among many other topics. He stood up for equality and human rights for people of color and contributed greatly to the American Civil Rights movement. He led the movement for civil rights for about 13 years, up until his death. His “I have a dream” speech majorly impacted the fight for equality. In this speech, he described his visions and hopes for the future for all people of color. He stated, I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”

The first time America made this a holiday was January 20, 1986.
