Fish In a Tree Book Review
“Everybody is smart in different ways. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.” In the book, Fish in a Tree by Linda Mullaly Hunt, the main character is Ally, a 6th-grade girl who goes to a school in Connecticut. Ally has a secret that she has been keeping from her class; she has a lot of trouble reading. Ally is embarrassed and feels as if something is wrong with her, so she tries to cause trouble to distract people from her truth. She struggles through her schoolwork and gets moved from class to class and just tries to find her way. She faces many hardships like a mean girl but has many supporters like a new teacher who seems to like his class for who they are, not who they are trying to be. Fish in a Tree is truly a heart-warming tale that many students can understand and relate to. You can (and should) check it out in the library today!
